From Light to Liberty
You are part of my journey from Light to Liberty. This ride is for me to see our Country and to transform my hurt to hope. I want you to be aware of child abuse and to find out which Child Advocacy Center is closest to you. If you are so moved, please pay it forward.
Help reach Deven’s goal of $10,000 to help other victims.
Pay it Forward
Deven was only 11 years old when he experienced the importance of Dawson Place in his quest for safety, justice, and healing.
You are invited to Pay-it-Forward so that other victims like Deven have access to the free services at our Child Advocacy Center. A gift today will help a child and family tomorrow. Please Pay-it-Forward.
My Journey from Light to Liberty
Every adult knows that child abuse is wrong. That is why it takes place in secret, in the darkness. When I told my grandparents, and then the Police about what was happening to me at home, a LIGHT was shown on what previously been hidden. This challenging journey across the country is a time for me to nurture the healing started at Dawson Place so that I can continue to break free from the traumatic bonds that once held me back. This ride is my journey to find LIBERTY from a difficult part of my life. I appreciate your kindness and anything you feel moved to pay-forward to Dawson Place for other kids like me.
Dawson Place was there in my time of need, and I am so grateful for that. A gift today will help other children and youth get all the services they need for safety, justice, and healing. At Dawson Place services are provided free of charge.
My Journey to Health and Healing
On my health and healing journey, I will be bicycling across the United States, from the Mukilteo Lighthouse to the Statue of Liberty. I first imagined the journey as a personal challenge and a fun thing to do. The distances and mountain ranges will provide plenty of challenges. Because I love to bicycle, camp and fish, and to see wild animals, it will be a fun experience. I am active in Boy Scouts and earning merit badges towards achieving Eagle Scout. Along the way I will be earning two more merit badges: Physical Fitness and Explorations.
I want my journey to raise awareness of child abuse prevention and to encourage support of Child Advocacy Centers. By doing this, I will be paying it forward to help other child victims of abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.
Stay up to Date with Deven’s Journey!
Along the way he is raising money for CAC’s and child abuse prevention. You can read about his journey on his blog.
